Stage Collapse in Ottawa
JUL
18
It was a close call in Ottawa yesterday. The stage collapsed while Cheap Trick was playing. Members of Court Yard Hounds were standing on the side of the stage when it came crashing down. We're all thankful that everyone in the CYH and Cheap Trick band and crew is ok. However, Cheap Trick's bus driver, Sandy, was injured. There were also a few other people injured including one seriously so please keep them all in your thoughts. You can read more about the event on the CBC News website and see a video of the stage toppling on YouTube.

The House of Blues is my favorite location to see a show as it is so close. Last night one of the most power pop bands of all time rock the House of Blues in West Hollywood. I may have been the only being in the earth that hasn't seen Cheap Trick in concert awaiting now but it was value the wait.

Re: Stage Collapse in Ottawa
WOW! So glad that nothing really tragic happened. I'm from Canada and close to Ottawa and it's embarrassing for Ottawa to say the least. It looks like the stage is about 50 years old for heaven's sake. I don't mean to play on words too much but in such a disaster like this one, I think I'd blame in on a "Cheap Trick"!!! (Sorry people. Couldn't help myself. I know, I know. It's a terrible joke! But I couldn't miss playing with words there. Anyhow, one sad thing is probably true, and the fact is that Cheap Trick and Court Yard Hounds probably won't be playing Ottawa anytime soon! At least not on a wooden stage. What an embarrassment for the promotors, the Ottawa fans, the artists and especially the folks who were contracted to "build" that stage!!! Too bad somebody was hurt but it could have been possibly been many more and perhaps a death. Oh well, please don't be shy to try another, better gig in this country. What a freak thing but I know it's happened to quite a few performers. But usually due to fans going berserk! Not due to the flimsy construction of the stage. I'm not a big Ottawa city fan anyways. Try 'Ontario Place' in Toronto next summer. The Amphitheatre there is well built there...I hope! All the best.

WOW! I would like to know who is responsible for that! It reminds me of the carnival rides. You always wonder if they are safe because they were put up in only 2 hours! Glad nobody else got hurt. Shannon

I'm so glad that this wasn't more serious. I met you both in Buffalo, NY last week, have been glowing ever since. The thought of losing such talented people is heart-breaking. I'm glad that all members of the CYH's were safe, including Martie's husband/kids that are also touring with them.
Keep Safe ladies!!
Roger from Ohio.

Crazy! Glad nobody was seriously injured (minus the broken leg, ouch!); After watching the vid though, it's just amazing there weren't more/worse injuries. Thank goodness!
