Hello Emily and Martie,
I come from Amsterdam and I'm a fan of the Dixie Chicks, now becoming a fan of CYH too. I first heard you playing (the first time I ever heard country) 3 years ago, when I was 15, and I just fell for it.

Now I have a question to Martie (a stupid one maybe, but I have been wondering about this for the last 3 years):

What is the difference between 'fiddle' and 'violin'?

Lots of love,
Emma

Hi Ladies
Wanted to let you know how much your music is appreciated in British Columbia, Canada. Abbotsford, BC just got a stadium built a couple of years back and from the concerts we have seen there, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Please come for a visit as we would love to go to your concert too. Always have loved your fabulous music and though it wasn't popular with some people, have admired that you stood up and said something during a very trying time. Love you all. I am not a big country fan usually, but do love good music and when I name my favorite musicians, Dixie Chicks is on the list.
Please do make more music as it is timeless and your all have a lot more to give.

Hey, guys! This is Jenelle and I think your music is fantanstic! I love hearing Emily and Martie sing and do what you love. I miss Natalie's voice so much, but these songs are amazing. I love your album and I listen to it everyday.

Are you guys ever going to come to Vancouver? And when are the Dixie Chicks touring again (In Vancouver maybe? Hopefully?)

Natalie, Martie and Emily...You guys are my heroes! Even though Natalie isn't there, let her know Smile

Thanks, Jenelle

YAY! Glad to hear you guys are in Austin! I met Martie at Mastros in Beverly Hills the night before the clean sweep at the Grammys. You were so nice (even though I was kinda starstruck and giddy). I am in Austin too! I own a dessert shop called Lick It Bite It Or Both up North behind The Domain. You girls are welcome anytime so drop by with the kiddos! We love us some Chicks! MORE MUSIC!!! Chicks or Hounds, I will take anything I can get! Such Talent! All the best...

I hope it's all fixed for next time! No worries, what we did see was great! I loved when you did "I Miss You".

Hi ladies! I have had the pleasure of seeing you in Oklahoma City in 1999 on your very first tour with Natalie part of the group. I then got to work security for each of your successive tours when you came back to OKC at the Ford Center. As a former Lubbock resident I was just wondering if there are plans in the future to get back with Natalie? I went to college in Levelland, Tx. with a buddy of mine who has been good friends with Natalies' dad for a very long time. Texas loud and Texas proud! Paul Hickman

Hey girls! I've got two questions.

While you were in London did you get to see any concerts?

Now that you're starting to work on your second album, are you considering collaborations with other writers or artists?

And just a general giant 'THANK YOU' for doing this! It's nice to see you take a step toward the digital age and get connected with the fans!

Hi Martie & Emily!!

I wish yall would come to Atlanta, GA Smile

My Question Is: Emily, how were you chosen as lead singer and not Martie?

By the way I took up playing instruments because of yall!! Thank you for your inspiration. God Bless.

Love, Kallie frm GA

Hi,

I met you both before the second London show when you kindly recorded a message for my little girls ! (Hopefully you remember ?)

They loved the message and will both now be coming to future concerts even if it's a school night (!).

Emily [aged 8] & Charlotte [aged 6] would like to know if you like cats ?? If not, what are your favourite animals ?

For both shows, you and the band were fantastic - can't wait for new music.
x

Re: Hi girls pleasure to have met you both after the 2nd show in London. Emily we were the last fans you met that night, it was great to also catch Simon Renshaw (Chicks Manager) on the way out. My question is "will you be releasing a live dvd of your debut court yard hounds tour"?
Amie from Ireland xx

What happened to make you pull out of the Australian A Taste of Lilith shows? I was so sad that I didn't get to see you perform in Sydney. Will you be coming back to Australia to tour?

Hi Girls!! I am Paloma from São Paulo, Brazil and like much the work and song of the Dixie Chicks! =)

I ask: Will you record more albuns with the Dixie Chicks? Are there a new project?

Thanks a lot! Congratulations!

Gals this is an odd request. Years ago there was a female Bluegrass band that did a cover of 'I Know A Little' by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Up until my entirely unsuccessful attempts to find it online, I 'spoe it wasn't you.

Still...you'd sound incredible doing it. Tough song to learn in just a few hours tho..lol.

Hope to see you in the Allentown/Lehigh Valley area sometime soon. I've not yet had the pleasure of seeing you live and in person. You are one of those groups that ya just can't put a label on, even tho you're stamped as country.

Peace. And if Nat needs a kind of dark humor joke I got one I heard on Bill Maher:

"I haven't seen conservatives this happy about getting seats since they made Rosa Parks stand up."

Wink PS: Take your apology back, you didn't need to apologize for ANY reason.

Peace

Malcolm Lance

PS: Possibly inaproppriate, but I think you gals would do an AWESOME cover of this song 'Turn To Me'. This is my version, the man who wrote it gave me his blessing to record it, I'm sure he would you sure 'nuff.

Hi Emily and Martie,
One of my songs mentions the names, "Emily, Martie and Natalie". The song also mentions the controversy. Out of respect for you, I will not record the song if you would rather I did not. Can I send you a copy of the lyrics?

You were great at the Lillith concert in Toronto in spite of the rain. I was one of a very few males there but I was determined to see you play live. I probably had to explain 10 or 15 times who I was there to see, to the curious ladies around me.

I have the houds CD, I am waiting for the next one and looking forward to the new Video.

James

Hello Ladies

My son and I had the privilege of attending your concert in Union Chapel, Islington on Tuesday last, Nov. 2nd. We flew over especially from the West of Ireland; in fact we should have been there for the Monday night gig but our flight was diverted and we missed out (many thanks to those lovely people at Union Chapel for including us on their guest list on the Tuesday Night!). It was a delight to be there to see you perform live after being fans of the DC's for years and following the development of the CYH's this year. You and your band are wonderful performers and musicians.

My question is do you have any plans to play in the south of Ireland anytime you are this side of 'the Pond' in the future? You have a very loyal following in Ireland that would love to see and hear you perform live.

Congratulations and Best Wishes.

Hi Girls

Hi girls
I went to two Union Chapel gigs and loved them. I got some nice quality video shots of some of the songs, i would like to post them on this site but can't any ideas?. Would Utube be acceptable with copyright issues?

Hey Guys,

I really think that I'm one of your biggest fans here in Germany.
I so love your music and have every record you made.
One of my dreams is to see you in concert.
Is there a chance that you will play in Germany in the future?
Or maybe you are again in a Show like "TV Total" with Stefan Raab.
Do you remember? Martie had to guide two blind soccerplayers and she won. It was very funny.
I send you all the best wishes and good luck fot the future.
Hope you'll never stop making music.
Love, Maike

Hello,
I am from Czech republic in Europe. Is there a chance that you will have a tour here or in Europe?
Thank you for response.
PS: I love your album Taking the Long Way.

I enjoyed your two concerts in London at the Union Chapel. You mentioned that you would be cutting some demos in December. Are you at the point where you have enough material for a full album release? If so, can you give us a target date for the release at this time?

Thank you for continuing to perform and create such great music. The night of November 1st was my 10th anniversary as a fan of your music.

Also, when do you think the CYH will perform again in the states? Will it be to promote the new album or will it be sooner than that to keep you sharp?

Coop

Will Natalie ever return and will there ever be another Chicks album? The fans are left wondering and some are getting discouraged not knowing what's going on with the future of the Dixie Chicks. We have to know please tell us? We miss the Chicks the real fans still love you and we're still here Natalie is missed!!!

Woo Hoo Chicks!!!

Hey, I wrote an article about you guys during that rediculous BS in '06 (Dixie Chicks: Reluctant Warriors in The War for America's Soul). It's online still so you can read it if you want.

In that article I said HELL YES you'd be back on top again because "you ladies are warriors in the most traditional and honored sense of the word... It's in your blood to write poetry and put it to music and that gift is more durable than Wacko-Pat rhetoric or corporate greed."

And here you are!!! AARRRGGHH!!!

And oh yeah F.U.T.K!!!!!!

I have been a writer and performer for many years. I have worked for and with Sonny and Cher, Kris Kristopherson and many others in the business. On a personal note, I own just about every album that you have released. As a writer, I stay within the Country style of writing. I sat down the other day and wrote a beautiful song called "Easier Said Than Done" I wrote it with your sound and feeling in mind.

I really would like you to hear it, if at all possible. If someone could get in touch with me from your publishing reps, I will send them an mp3 file of the song. I have been retired from the business for many years, but I still keep my hand in. Thanks for your time, and keep them coming.

Don Joseph

Hi, I want to sing for you. I do not know that status of Natalie but, I want to sing for you. Please contact me and I can send you some of my work. My forte is Dixie Chicks and I have a unique sound.

Hi,
Have written 2 songs for the Dixie Chicks. I hope you consider doing some cross over as the hard corp "country" are too "super patriotic" too have perspective and appreciate your musicianship and amazing harmony. You have my e-mail. Please let me know where to send the words....no complications....just ask for an open reading.
All the best, S

Hi, I am a huge fan and I love the different instruments you play and the sounds that you can make, you're both incredibly gifted women. I just wanted to beg you to please come to Indiana (preferably southern Indiana). I would love the chance to see you perform live. Thanks for the music!

When you performed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, you were trying to find a bus to get to Peggy's Cove. Did you get there? Also, I hope you enjoyed our little part of the world.

Hi, Love the album.. will you be coming back to Vancouver, Canada any time soon ? Smile

My oldest daughter shot a video for "The Coast" about six months ago. She was young Martie. Did the video ever get completed? We would love to see it! Best.

Hello Ladies,
First of all, let me say thank you for pursuing your dreams and staying in this business for as long as you have. You have both been through alot in your lives and have stuck together through it all! Kudos to you both!!
I've always loved your music from the original Dixie Chicks to your current CYH days.
As of late, I have gone through something rather personal and in listening to your music in the background one day, one song came on and WOW.. did it ever hit me! The song was 'Without You'.
I know that if we could chat for a while and I could fill you in on what I went through and I know you would have another hit song!!
Laughing out loud

I have so many questions to ask both of you Martie and Emily that I don't know where to start!
How about this one... which I'm sure you've answered a hundred times, but why 'Court Yard Hound's? I have a theory but I could be wrong! lol
What made you decide to call yourselves that? I know there MUST be a good story behind it! hahaha

Mike

Hi Girls. Was a bit sad not to hear you in Perth Australia but all is well. Love your music! When you coming to Australia?

Hi Girls. Was a bit sad not to hear you in Perth Australia but all is well. Love your music! When you coming to Australia?

Hi girls,

First off, thanks so much for supporting gay rights and being positive role models for young people like myself. I met you both after your Melbourne concert in 2006 (which was a great 18th birthday present, I must say!), and was blown away by how down to Earth you both are!

I'm a writer, and have been so inspired by your music and personalities that I'm creating characters now that are much more believable and lovable - so thank you!

Just wondering if you will be coming back to Australia soon? It's not the same without you on our music scene!

Jess Smile

Hi from the Netherlands. When are you girls comming to Holland. I'll show you are little country in my old Mercedes Benz and come to your concert.

You forgot your Bill Clilnton event poster on the back of the door in your 1450 Preston Forest Square office so many years ago. Remember? I got it and mailed it to your publicist or manger in Nashville so you would have it for your archives. Hope they saved it for you.

I am the therapist that officed just across the hall from you. One of your last pre-Sony performances in Dallas was at the church in North Dallas and I am one of the lucky pre-Sony days fans that got to enjoy your performance there. You were knockin' 'em out then...just before the whole world got to get in on the party too!

Of course your music has always been great, but a special part of all is the honesty that comes out in your interviews over the years. You have always been direct, honest and I appreciate that so much. Those of us in Dallas are so proud of you both and look forward to more great music, performances ... and interviews!

Hi Martie and Emily,

First I want to tell you how much I've enjoyed listening to your music for the last 10 years. You've introduced me to bluegrass music, and I'm in love with the fiddle and banjo....Em, the banjo is a very sexy instrument when you're playing it !!!

My question to you is, in light of the recent suicides and bullying of young gay men and women, do you feel your song Ain't No Son could become an anthem for these young people? The subject matter is relevant to what's happening in todays society.

Thank you!
Michaela

We love your music! Will you be coming to Montreal or Toronto this summer?

Hey girls!

As a big admirer from the Netherlands I would love to know whether there has been a moment after Nathalie's words and all the trouble they caused, at which you have thought about spreading your wings and promoting your music on the European continent. And what I would like to know as well is if the two of you have plans to come to Europe with CYH. You would make at least one girl very happy!

Please keep writing, playing and singing more fabulous music, with or without Nathalie! Sorry for not chatting live with you, but by the time you do, it's night here and with two little girls in the house, you will understand I can use every minute of sleeping.

Love, Marjon

Martie and Emily,
I've been following you since the 'Thank Heavens for Dale Evans' days...
Any chance that you'll use CYH to possibly collaborate with Laura again?
Are there any other artists you would like to collaborate with?
Kristin V., Tehachapi CA

Hey - I love your new songs and applaud you all the way. I also want to say that you are so lucky to be working with Audley. We really miss getting to hear him play around town here in NC, but I love that I can hear him on your records.

I love of you and maybe one day soon i will be able to see you again.

Even though you have a great sound, I hope both of you give Sarah Jarosz a listen. I think she would be a great addition to C.Y.H. if you give her an invite. Here is her link on Austin City Limits.

Thanks for the chat opportunity.
I really hope people will recognize that this is about the Court Yard Hounds, and not about the Dixie Chicks. Please folks, give them a break - they deserve to talk about their music and their new project - not field questions about Natalie, that they've dealt with dozens of times and obviously don't know firm details about. The door's open - but this is the active project. Let's talk about the CYH and look forward to the second album

Can't Wait for the Chat. I assume one the main reasons of this chat is to announce y'alls next tour that kicks off in Austin at the Paramount Theatre, sometime REAL SOON ? Smile Seriously though... When are you going to play in Austin again?

I have so much I want to say I will be here for sure. Will Natalie ever return and will there ever be new Chicks album? The fans are left wondering!!!!

Hi Girls.....I told you I wouldn't forget you - and we're moving fwd with plans that include both of you - and Natalie - on stage...one of these days one of your crew will drop a line so we can sew this up. Hang in there and thank you for all the years, tears, smiles and miles - you're jewels. Thank you. p.s. I'll be listening on the 9th - I don't do TwitFace stuff...but will listen in.

In the UK C&W music is not as popular as the US. The Album Long Way Round etc. had more rock overtones, was different, and successful. Not the roots of your music, though. I know you have to write and perform the music you feel happy with but the album aforementioned was so good I think it a shame that you cannot find a way of moving in that direc tion. I live in Wales and to go to London is an effort, worth it sometimes but how can they charge as much for an eclectic event. Are they exploiting us or you or us both?

Hi guys! I love your music and I wish you could tour in my area (Idaho) but I understand the issues. I became a DCX fan after hearing about the drama created by your DCX singer, Natalie's, relatively innocent comment. Since then, I've discovered what talented musicians _you_ two are, and all the really good music you've recorded.

I'm glad to hear you two have moved ahead and begun touring and recording again. There's never enough good music. And I hope the Chicks are able to go on the road again soon.

Love you both,

Paul
