I really like the new sound. I like Sheryl Crow and it sounds similar to her, although even better with the harmony and original sounding instrumentation.

What's up with the odd name? There must be a story behind it that I missed.

Saw your Shut up and Sing documentary. Loved it! You girls are so talented, beautiful and driven. I am pursuing my own music career, much like you, in that I'm a wife and mother of 3 trying to juggle all of that with writing and recording music. You girls are an inspiration!!

Was a DC fan for a while way back when, but now, I'm a full fledged Courtyard Hound fan! Great sound and CD!!!

The revised vocals have a softer tone which I enjoy more than with the former lead singer's rasp. I know a lot of previous fans liked it but not really me. If I had the extra money I would most definitely buy a copy of the new album. Although I'm rather scratching my head at the new name...

I was reading some of the reviews, just to see what people were saying. My daughter and I were Chicks fans and loved their music. After the political fallout and the difficulty faced by the Chicks because of narrow-minded people afraid of free speech that Natalie exercised. It brought out so many people who just wanted something to hate. But, I challenge those who were threatened by Natalie's words, The Court Yard Hounds CD is so WONDERFUL!! Dont let a bad feeling from the past ruin your chance to discover the pure sweet echoes of a woman's heart reflected in Emily's & Martie's awesome offering. I am going to wear the CD out, I fear, & there is literally not one mediocre song. I hope that you two have alot more music to come, because I am officially a Big Fan!!!!

I am not a rabid Dixie Chicks fan, but I have marveled over the years listening to some of their work. The three together are amazing.
I love Natalie, and I don't care what she said or where she said it.
She is a gifted singer and has a heart and soul full of feeling.
These three are as close as if they all three were sisters.
That being said, I heard the song "The Coast" from this band The Court Yard Hounds on the radio. I went in search of it at the record store and when I found that it was these two talented women, I bought it.
I hoped for another song or two that I liked as much as "The Coast".
What I found, is one of the strongest albums I have heard in a long time.
These girls have amazing talent. The writing on this album is inspired.
It is brought to life with the voices of angels. The harmonies hurt in places, they are that perfect. It brings tears to your eyes.

You will be moved, you will be sung to, you will be rocked, and you will be gently cradled, in sound.

I cannot stop listening to it. It's all I have listened to since I bought it.
Each time I go through the 12 tracks to the last, I just start it back up again. The songs take hold of you every time.

Just great music. Period.

I just got the record and I'm on my first listen so all I can say is I like what I've heard so far. I have a huge love for Jakob Dylan so I have a slightly unnatural bias toward "See You In The Spring"; that not withstanding I'm loving hearing Emily out front with those stellar harmonies she and Martie make. Wait, I'm liking the rockin' "Ain't No Son", too. These ladies are just AMAZING! Rock on sisters!!! No pun intended. . . I'm also loving the whole Sheryl Crow vibe they've got going on, simply lovely, lovely stuff.

Love the Dixie Chicks but after listening to the Court Yard Hounds I am a FAN! This is better than any of the Dixie Chicks so that is a HUGE surprise!
Sweet sound and so pure!!!

Great stuff! You are amazing musicians and I think it's great that you're exploring yourselves outside of the Dixie Chicks (even though I am a die hard fan of the Chicks and always will be). It's a brave move and, as far as I'm concerned, your efforts have been successful. Don't listen to the nay-sayers...they're a bunch of angry dummies

Glad to finally see you ladies take center stage. Love the songs and harmony, but would bet money that I was listening to Sheryl Crow. Again, love the songs and harmony, but find a sound and style that distinguishes your voices and songs from Crow. Reach further and you'll find it. I'll be waiting.

So glad you getting back into the biz, I really missed you and hope the best for ya. I love the blue grass sound, you two have beautiful voices and I love the fiddle Marty, like the saying goes ya gotta have a fiddle in the band. Can't wait to hear more and what happened to the Dixie Chicks was totally wrong, I thought America was based on freedom of speech, and I won't say his name T.K. really made it all worse and every time I hear his music I think of what he did to the Dixie Chicks among a couple others. GREAT job on "The View" today!

I can't fully express how impressed I am with what I've heard so far from this album. "The Coast" brings me back in my mind to the oceanside town I grew up in and makes my soul smile from the inside out. And "The Fear of Wasted Time" has moved me to tears with every playing. Also, the other two songs playing at the web site are equally fantastic!

I can't WAIT to hear the rest of the album and would LOVE to see a live performance (BTW, I thought the "Chicks and Hounds" line from someone earlier was absolutely priceless! )!

From 16 (DixieGirl4evr) to 64 (me) your fans cover the gamut. I've been a DC fan from the beginning. It's a shame what happened. I served 22 years in the military "fighting" for the right of ALL U.S. citizens to have free speech. Alas, many citizens - and apparently MANY country singers/radio stations/fans - don't REALLY believe in free speech. Oh well....

God Bless my sweet girls. I'm so glad you are back. I saw your concert as Dixie Chicks in Little Rock , AR. I've seen lots of concerts, but it was by far the best I've ever seen. Prayers are going up for the two of you, and Natalie of course, but Good Luck and Go Get'um. I've listened to your new music and I love it.

I have followed the Dixie Chick since you began. Saw the FLY tour at the Pond in Anaheim, loved it. You ladies are amazing. Glad to see that Emily and Marty are back making music and so glad to see the Dixie Chicks back out on tour this summer with the Eagles. Just saw the Eagles last Sunday at the Honda Center (Anaheim). With you opening and Keith Urban as well, it should be an incredible concert. It's just too bad you are not coming to Southern California. The Court Yard Hounds sound terrific!! Looking forward to much more Chicks and Hounds (I can see it now....the Chicks & Hounds tour coming to a venue near you!!!)

Good singing, good playing. This record is Martie and Em at their finest. Clearly these fine musicians have had this music in their hearts for some time. Nice to hear it finally. The gestation was a long time coming but this is one good looking baby. Looking forward to the release and the tour.

I love the Dixie Chicks, have every album. And now the Court Yard Hounds, I love this new move too. My favorite song is 'waste of Time'. Keep on keeping on ladies, your strength and devotion to your passion is an inspiration to us all.
