You two are just.... amazing. This CD is beautiful. The first song I heard was "See You in the Spring" and the melody and words just brought tears to my eyes. I just loved it so much. So, I listened to the other song "The Coast".... well, I knew I had to go and get the whole album then. I've been listening to it ever since! I cannot get enough. I wish I lived closer so I could see you girls live!

It's so good to see you girls again out here doing what you should be doing and what you love. Keep on doing it!

Much Love!
Amanda

Fabulous music from CYH! Exquisite harmonies & incredible musicianship! A courageous & stunningly wonderful creative step taken by Emily & Martie. So delighted that they have made this decision to "move on out there" with the great music that we fans have been praying for!!! My daughter & I are making a mini-road trip from up state New York to Burlington, Vt. for the July 20th concert. We are so excited to see CYH LIVE for the first time!!!

LUV the disc. Hopefully you'll will be performing in San Antonio at the Majestic or the Empire.

Happy FOURTH.

Frank

I come from Indonesia, when the dixie chicks or court yard hounds show in Indonesia?? because in Indonesia itself has never been a concert of songs country.

The first time I heard a song called cowboy take me away, I immediately fell in love with the dixie chicks and I was very happy with a country song. I am very pleased with Martie, especially during her playing the violin.

just a few hours ago I know that emily and Martie has an own band called the court-yard hounds, after that I went straight to the songs of these two sisters.

good luck for your band
gbu...

I love the whole cd!!!!! Over time I listen to it and love it more and more! Most of all I love singing along with the girls!!!!!

Can't wait to hear more. Hopefully I can see you both on tour in Vegas.

Are you coming to the Tampa Bay, FL area? Would love to see you tour with Jakob Dylan! The three of you have an awesome seductive sound. "See You In The Spring" is a beautiful song.

Honestly, I did not expect the new album the Dixie Chicks came across this album quite by accident, it certainly is not "Dixie Chicks" is, as I wrote "Spring melancholy, folk component of one of the foundations of this album, vocals Emily is approached to this style of music, everything is smooth and beautiful ...
I can not treat you badly, or as something else, because it started to listen to such music is not so long ago. But this music makes me happy, thank you, put the highest score possible! Smile

fan From Russia.

Sad!

I tried to loop Natalie's new song, "God Only Knows," with CYH's "See You in the Spring," to no avail. Both songs are missing something. I can't wait until I hear a new song from the three... together!

unfortunately I have to say i used to really dig your sounds from the fiddle to banjo your music always rocked now in this band your instrumental work isn't showcased and the singing just sounds like you're backup singers, there is something missing from this band... don't get me wrong i love that you're having a go outside the Dixie chicks but it just seems like you've made an album to prove you could do it not as the Dixie chicks. I'd listen to you if you took a different direction on your next album, but if it's the same garbage as this one...i won't bother again

I love these new songs Martie and Emily.

Hey ladies,

I am late to the party but better late then never. I am a huge fan of you all. I first heard you in 97 or 98 in New York. You were playing a concert with Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan in central park. And I was blown away. I ran out and bought your cd feeling like I was in the know..called my sister from Texas and she was already a big fan....I have all the dixie albums and I am buying this one as soon as I finish typing.

I must admit that I went looking for a place to just write a few words to you ladies for your strength and amazing talent...I literally just watched Shut up and sing. I couldn't bring myself to watch it before now because when those events were occurring I was so angry about what people were doing to good people like YOU! I was in NY during 9/11 and I remember I just listened to music most days to make it through. Your album was on repeat several days. You ladies are AMAZING.

Glad to see you have kept going. I love this sound..the music is soulful and breathe taking from what I've heard so far...so I know I am gonna love the album. I do hope that there will be more of your gruesome threesome...and the chicks will be back together some day. But if not, no worries you still have plenty of love and support from fans!

And this little black girl loves ur music. Keep it going!

So happy to see the new version of The Sisters. I first saw ya'll as the original Dixie Chics, before Natalie, at the Farmers Market in Plano, Texas (Parker Road & Hwy 75,) on a July 4th, my birthday. I just happened across the event and was awestruck with the band sound and the Ladies great voices. They continue the streak of bringing their fans closer with the music, lyrics, and voices that only The Sisters can bring forth. I hope ya'll get a chance to play a new and great venue in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center, vadashiedcdc.com, where Little Big Town, MercyMe, and the Legendary Willie Nelson have already played. Rumor has it that possibly, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Sarah Evans, and Casting Crowns will be coming in 2011.

Being a Native of Plano, Texas, seeing Willie then The Sisters, aka CYH, in the area I am now living, keeps me in touch with my Native Texas roots. I have enjoyed this site greatly, Love the new music and direction the band is going, and look forward to reading more and more on the success that Court Yard Hounds will be having for many years to come.

I am totally in LOVE with the NEW SOUND! I’ve been hearing a lot of strong vocal material lately and it was time to hear new mellow tunes. It was definitely perfect timing. I’m big time into harmonizing and LOVE it when I hear a new sound with harmonies…that’s what I have truly loved about these sisters in the past. I think they could pull it off and I would love to see a band out there that had an eagles sound made up of all girl vocals.

If the "Court Yard Hounds" read this please know that you are truly an inspiration for me and it is the TWO of YOU that inspired me to start writing originals with our band “Blue Rio”. God be with me when I am juggling jobs, raising a family, and following my dreams as an original artist but hopefully you will hear our name in the future. I will definitely continue my prayers and hope to one day hit it big like you beautiful ladies. With lots of love and prayers heading your way…
-Claudia

I LOVE this album! It's soft and mellow, feminine but with a little bit of edge in just the right places. Love you girls!

If you come to this album expecting the Dixie Chicks, you likely will be very disappointed, but if you come to it with an open mind for a new band then the whole album is great. These ladies have boat loads of talent and stand quite well on their own making music just for themselves. On the first run through of the album I liked every song, which is rather unusual for me with new music. Two songs, Fairytale and Skyline, emerged as essential listening. I look forward to their next release.

very talented ladies, i am a follower of the Dixie Chicks they have fire it seems you want to bury the past. I understand, but look forward to a one last show featuring the Dixie Chicks and the Court Yard Hounds maybe saying goodbye to Nat. Please continue to make music and keep us fans posted.

Love it, always nice to listen to they are amazing and talented ladies.

Bought the album the day it came out - have not stopped playing it - I am a die hard DC fan - and miss Natalie - but this ROCKS! Love the sound - love the softer side - love it in general! Shock)

In two words, "GREAT ALBUM" from "The Two Chicks"

Love, Peter Harrysson, the Netherlands

I really like the new sound. I like Sheryl Crow and it sounds similar to her, although even better with the harmony and original sounding instrumentation.

What's up with the odd name? There must be a story behind it that I missed.

Saw your Shut up and Sing documentary. Loved it! You girls are so talented, beautiful and driven. I am pursuing my own music career, much like you, in that I'm a wife and mother of 3 trying to juggle all of that with writing and recording music. You girls are an inspiration!!

Again, I love the new sound!

I had no idea until I saw Emily and Marty at Lilith a few days ago in MD. As soon as they started playing, I knew it was gonna be awesome. I bought the cd - last one there, along with the last white rabbit t-shirt (actually from the board, posted by stickpins)...I can not believe how great the record is!! There is not one song I do not love ~ and after only one listen, that says a lot!

Next single should be: AIN'T NO SON. It is cool as hell ~ but so are all the others. I wish they would've turned up the banjo at the concert, but everything rocked and the mix and production on the cd is outta-site!

I can't wait to hear more! Please book yourselves at the BIRCHMERE in VA (DC area). It would be perfect - and sold out!

LOVE IT!!

Ditto on the shirt! I didn't buy one when I saw you guys at Lilith Fair and wished I had...you should sell em on the site. Probably more than a few of us will scoop em up!

Was a DC fan for a while way back when, but now, I'm a full fledged Courtyard Hound fan! Great sound and CD!!!

This CD is beautiful and haunting.

Yeah... their finally back! A new band, a new look, new music & style.
I love it!. Bought your C.D. & can't stop playing it. Thank you for coming to our quaint little town "Jacksonville Oregon"..You & Your band are amazing!!! Keep on singing girls, but don't forget to come back now, hear? Fans Forever!!!!!! Good luck
Kat

The revised vocals have a softer tone which I enjoy more than with the former lead singer's rasp. I know a lot of previous fans liked it but not really me. If I had the extra money I would most definitely buy a copy of the new album. Although I'm rather scratching my head at the new name...

I LOVE THE NEW CD!!!!! I am soo glad the music is back and I hope you all keep playing the music and remember that your true fans are still your fans. The media will say what they will but the important things are not what they think but if you are true to yourself. You all rock and the last time I checked we do have freedom of speech and the world will get over it and if not they were never your fans anyways. i request your music all the time and will continue until they start to play this awesome cd. thanks for the music best of luck with the future. From just one of the many fans that you still have rock on!

I was reading some of the reviews, just to see what people were saying. My daughter and I were Chicks fans and loved their music. After the political fallout and the difficulty faced by the Chicks because of narrow-minded people afraid of free speech that Natalie exercised. It brought out so many people who just wanted something to hate. But, I challenge those who were threatened by Natalie's words, The Court Yard Hounds CD is so WONDERFUL!! Dont let a bad feeling from the past ruin your chance to discover the pure sweet echoes of a woman's heart reflected in Emily's & Martie's awesome offering. I am going to wear the CD out, I fear, & there is literally not one mediocre song. I hope that you two have alot more music to come, because I am officially a Big Fan!!!!

i literally have not stopped playing it. i didnt know what i was expecting but this just blew my socks off.

Love it. Martie, How's your golf game. Great music, can't wait to have you in the NW. Ain't No Son rules. Scott

Simply outstanding! Fresh, new, music that stands on it's own with a sound of it's own. Not Dixie light. Not a single commercial 'sell copies' note on the album. Well done ladies!

Please consider a North Atlantic show (Philadelphia, Baltimore)

Peter S. Wilmington De.

Love it! Love Ain't No Son the most.... awesome! I have so missed you chicks' playin'.... I sure wish you were coming near me... would love to see you.... come to Michigan PLEASE!!!! Fox Theatre again (was great to see the Chicks & James Taylor)....

In the beginning and until the "incident" Chick music was straight from the heart and emotions of you ladies. After the incident the world had changed and especially for Natalie. The music changed to reflect the hurt and anger in her heart. Music motivated differently from everything else the Chicks had been doing.

CYH is a step back into the heart and emotions we fell in love with from the start. I am a Chick fan and never stopped being a fan. I am now a CYH fan and again hear the deep emotion and love of a womans heart and mind as in the begining, love it! Looking for a concert date near me!

I am not a rabid Dixie Chicks fan, but I have marveled over the years listening to some of their work. The three together are amazing.
I love Natalie, and I don't care what she said or where she said it.
She is a gifted singer and has a heart and soul full of feeling.
These three are as close as if they all three were sisters.
That being said, I heard the song "The Coast" from this band The Court Yard Hounds on the radio. I went in search of it at the record store and when I found that it was these two talented women, I bought it.
I hoped for another song or two that I liked as much as "The Coast".
What I found, is one of the strongest albums I have heard in a long time.
These girls have amazing talent. The writing on this album is inspired.
It is brought to life with the voices of angels. The harmonies hurt in places, they are that perfect. It brings tears to your eyes.

You will be moved, you will be sung to, you will be rocked, and you will be gently cradled, in sound.

I cannot stop listening to it. It's all I have listened to since I bought it.
Each time I go through the 12 tracks to the last, I just start it back up again. The songs take hold of you every time.

Just great music. Period.

I am not a Dixie Chicks fan...had heard one or two songs of theirs. I thought I'd check out this new venture out of pure curiosity. All I can say is... Natalie who? Where was the need for a front person when you have these two beautiful voices? Emily, where have you been hiding? Or more importantly, why? Get on out there girl, you got it going on. If Natalie never comes back, there's no worries.

I just got the record and I'm on my first listen so all I can say is I like what I've heard so far. I have a huge love for Jakob Dylan so I have a slightly unnatural bias toward "See You In The Spring"; that not withstanding I'm loving hearing Emily out front with those stellar harmonies she and Martie make. Wait, I'm liking the rockin' "Ain't No Son", too. These ladies are just AMAZING! Rock on sisters!!! No pun intended. . . I'm also loving the whole Sheryl Crow vibe they've got going on, simply lovely, lovely stuff.

I don't have the album yet, but love the songs I've heard on the shows. Different, unique sounds and the great instruments make this album. I will buy soon, but really impressed with the lyrics and music. Thanks and good for you!!!!

Love the Dixie Chicks but after listening to the Court Yard Hounds I am a FAN! This is better than any of the Dixie Chicks so that is a HUGE surprise!
Sweet sound and so pure!!!
Hope you make it to Canada in your tour.

PS... if you like this .. try Blue Rodeo and Madison Violet... I am SURE you will like these great perfoprmers too!

Being from Chicago originally, but having lived in Texas for 28 years, I absolutely love and relate to "See you in the Spring." And Gracefully is as good as a Patty Griffin song, and I consider her the best in the business for songwriting. Congratulations for being able to work on your craft while still being beautiful women and moms!

Great stuff! You are amazing musicians and I think it's great that you're exploring yourselves outside of the Dixie Chicks (even though I am a die hard fan of the Chicks and always will be). It's a brave move and, as far as I'm concerned, your efforts have been successful. Don't listen to the nay-sayers...they're a bunch of angry dummies Smile

These tracks on your site are AMAZING!!! Okay, I love the DCs and was expecting more of that, but you 2 have your own sound and its soooo different. I havent heard anything "Americana" that compares for ages. Its not alt-C&W, its not folk - nu or old - and its not mainstream hat music. Great work.

I love, love, love this! So fresh and not typical Dixie Chics (which I love, as well), but this is very different Great job.

Glad to finally see you ladies take center stage. Love the songs and harmony, but would bet money that I was listening to Sheryl Crow. Again, love the songs and harmony, but find a sound and style that distinguishes your voices and songs from Crow. Reach further and you'll find it. I'll be waiting.

When I walked into my neighborhood Wal-Mart and saw your beautiful faces staring back at me from your new Cd without Natalie I was in shock. I think I may even have been standing in the isle talking to myself asking what happened to my Dixie Chicks. I bought the CD and put it in the car straight away. What I Heard come out of my speakers was like an old friend that I had been missing so much. The harmonies are beautiful and I absolutely love the entire CD. Your both so talented that it's crazy and I am so happy you made this CD so we can again enjoy that talent. Now that I know the Dixie Chicks are still together I can breath again. I am a hard core Dixie Chicks fan and your all huge roll models of mine. My DIxie Chicks Cd's are very worn from being played over and over again and now I am sure The Courtyard Hounds will be the next CD that I will ware out. Love it Love it Love it .
